| 2 |  |  WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of  | 
| 3 |  | Representatives are pleased to
congratulate the trustees,  | 
| 4 |  | administration, and staff of Lincoln Park Zoo on the occasion
 | 
| 5 |  | of the grand opening of the Regenstein Macaque Forest and thank  | 
| 6 |  | them for their
work in their community; and
 | 
| 7 |  |  WHEREAS, The Regenstein Macaque Forest is home to 5 female  | 
| 8 |  | and 3 male
snow monkeys which came to Lincoln Park Zoo from the  | 
| 9 |  | Japan Monkey Centre, an
accredited zoo in Inuyama, Japan, where  | 
| 10 |  | they have resided for the past several
years; and
 | 
| 11 |  |  WHEREAS, Snow monkeys are native to Japan and are known for  | 
| 12 |  | their tolerance for
extreme climates from sub-tropical  | 
| 13 |  | lowlands to sub-alpine regions; some
populations of Japanese  | 
| 14 |  | macaques have been observed cleaning their food before
 | 
| 15 |  | consumption by rinsing it off in nearby water sources; and
 | 
| 16 |  |  WHEREAS, Beginning April 2, 2015, zoo visitors will have  | 
| 17 |  | daily opportunities to not only
catch a glimpse of these unique  | 
| 18 |  | primates, but also engage in hands-on learning
opportunities  | 
| 19 |  | and witness behavioral scientists working to acclimate the  | 
| 20 |  | monkeys
to a research booth; scientists from the Lester E.  | 
| 21 |  | Fisher Center for the Study & Conservation of Apes are engaged  | 
| 22 |  | in a broad behavioral and cognitive research program that  |
