A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to raising the age limit to purchase certain weapons |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 46.06, Penal Code, is amended by |
|
|
amending Subsection (a)(2) to read as follows: |
|
|
(2) intentionally or knowingly sells, rents, leases, |
|
|
or gives or offers to sell, rent, lease, or give to any [child] |
|
|
person younger than [18] 21 years of age any firearm, club, or |
|
|
location-restricted knife; |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
